Inserted into densely populated and industrialized areas, EMAE takes the challenge of o managing a complex environmental question, directly concerned with the intricate urban scenario of the City of São Paulo, one of the largest metropolis in the world.

Heir to a hydroenergect system, conceived to operate with the clean waters of the Pinheiros and Tietê rivers, the Company testified the fast and non ordinate urban expansion occurred since the second half of the last century. Currently, the generation complex of the Company is totally entwined in the urban spot, and EMAE lives with the highly human occupation at the banks of its major reservoirs, and with the polluted waters of the Metropolitan Regions of São Paulo.

Perceiving the environment as a part of the business assets, day-by-day EMAE better assimilates the management of the environmental subjects that interpose themselves to its activities, incorporating the environment variable into the planning of the ventures in jobs and services, investing in modernization, in clean (environmentally speaking) technologies, and in projects that aim the improvement of waters quality, and viable solutions in order to serve at the same time both the production of energy, and the multiple utilization of the preserved waters.
